''The West'' is no longer West, and the ''Third World'' is no longer confined to the South. Old binary models, legacies of European colonialsism and the Cold War mentaility, have been replaced by a border dialoect of ongoing flux. We now inhabit a sociosultural universe in constant motion, a moving cartography with a floating sense of self. As artists/people, we now understand that we can speak two or more languages, have two or more indentities and /or nationalities, perform different roles in multiple contexts, and not neccessarily be in conflict with ourselves and others. Contradiction is no longer penalized.''
