Dave was commissioned to design a machine that would polish the end surfaces of commercially manufactured ruby rods used in lasers. The machine he produced is both beautiful and mind boggling in the level of accuracy that it can acheive.

On Thursday I went to Skerray to visit my friend Dave Illingworth. Dave filmed my progress to Eilean Nan Ron back in September 2006 and has been a firm friend ever since. Dave has a reputation for being meticulous in everything he does, giving equal attention to all tasks, big or small.Dave makes and fixes clocks, and although he is now retired, his skills are still greatly sought after. He is just the man to help me!
As you can see, we've had some snow up North! making the journey to Skerray a little slippy but very beautiful.
